Concert Day in Barcelona

Members of the Chancel Choir outside the Church of Santa Maria Del Pi following rehearsal for tonight's concert.

Concert Day in Barcelona, Spain. For the first time in Europe the choir got the chance to sing the repertoire for tonight's concert. The rehearsal at the church went very well, however there was a delay as the piano tuner had to finish his work before things could get started. There are 88 strings in a concert piano, I think we heard at least 75 as he painstakingly worked his way down the keys, and then decided to tune the upper register. The result however, was wonderful as Choir Director Tom Jaber freely played the program and the piano sounded great.

The rehearsal turned out to be an impromptu concert as the church doors were open to the public and many folks enjoyed watching us making last minute details and improvements on the pieces for the evening. We did have plenty of time for a nice lunch and some ice cream along the narrow streets of the old city, very near where we strolled yesterday.
